Torre Branca

The 108.60-meter-high steel tower Torre Branca, built by architect Gio Ponti, was inaugurated in 1933. By elevator you can go up to the observation deck and enjoy a panoramic view over Milan.

Behind the Triennial Art museum the 10.68-meter-high observation tower Torre Branca jut out. By elevator you can move up to the 97 m viewing platform and have a beautiful view about Milan. You see the Castello with Torre del Filarete and the golden Madonnina on top of the Duomo, as well as the Simplon park and Arena Civica.

History of Torre Branca

The tower was built for the 5th Triennale in Milan in record time, constructed in just two and a half months in 1933 and it was then called Torre Littoria.
The architect Gio Ponti created with the tower a contemporary work of art, in which "find are are associated modern architecture and new technology.

The architectural challenge was to create a sleek and transparent design. For this time Milan has become the only European city that hosted a three-year International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts and modern architecture.

In 1972 the tower was closed for a long period and only in the year 2002 it has been reopened after a complete reconstruction under the leadership of the company Branca - producer of the famous “bitter” Fernet Branca.

Visits and opening times

One can take the elevator to the observation deck and enjoy a panoramic view of Milan from above.

The steel tower Torre Branca is located in the Parco Sempione next to the Triennale Design Museum.

At the foot of the Torre Branca, the designer Just Cavalli Cafè is one of the top venues for evening meetings.
