The three naves contain important artworks. The cupola comprises bright mosaics and the golden altar is the work of the Master Volvinio.
The museum contains a treasury with ecclesiastical objects and parchment manuscripts.
Note the two medieval bell towers left and right behind the church, which can be seen from the center of the square of St. Ambrogio.
The right bell tower, the monk tower, dates from the 10th Century, while the left bell tower, the so-called Kanonicza tower in the 13th Century has been added. Bramante built in the 16th Century by order of the Sforza, the cloisters and the portico.
Behind the church is the Temple of Victory, Tempio della Vittoria.
