The monastery Certosa di Garegnano is the first Lombard monastery of Certosini (Carthusian), founded by Giovanni Visconti in the year 1349.
The walls inside the church are richly decorated with frescoes from the hand of Daniele Crespi (1629) and tell stories of the Order of the Carthusians (Certosini) and its Founder, Brunone.
The cloister is located on the right of the church is the surviving part of the original Carthusian monastery.
The monastery is located in the San Siro district, not far from the main cemetery, the Cimitero Maggiore.
